Senator Akobundu Foundation Graduates over 400 Engineering and Robotics Students
On Friday, August 30th, 2024, at Nostrocom House, Umuahia, the Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Senator Augustine Akobundu, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy, celebrated the graduation of over 400 participants in the engineering and robotics training programme.
The graduates, aged 10 to 18, received hands-on training in scratch coding development, embedded system engineering, and robotics. The training, which was in two (2) batches from August 19th - 30th, was designed to equip young minds with essential skills, ensuring they were well-prepared to take advantage of future opportunities in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
The graduation ceremony was a showcase of talent, creativity, and the remarkable potential of young minds. The projects presented were not just assignments, but a prototype of real-world solutions that highlighted the ingenuity and technical prowess of the young graduates. From robotics demonstrations to software applications, the students displayed an array of projects that underscored the potential for technology to solve real-life problems. Their presentations were met with applause and admiration, serving as a testament to what young minds can achieve with the right guidance and resources.
During his keynote address, Senator Akobundu encouraged the young graduates to view the training not as an end, but as the beginning of new opportunities. "The skills you have learned here are keys to a future filled with possibilities," he said. "Whether you choose to pursue careers in technology, engineering, or any other field, the foundation you have built will serve you well. Embrace these opportunities, continue to learn, and share your knowledge with others. The future is yours to shape."
Senator Akobundu went on to reaffirm his deep commitment to education and youth empowerment. He highlighted his sponsorship of 113 teachers at the Teachers Training Institute, reflecting his belief in equipping educators with the tools they need to inspire and educate our children.
Looking to the future, the Senator announced the upcoming launch of an ambitious youth training program that will cater to 1,000 participants from across Abia Central. This new initiative will offer training in high-demand skills, including digital marketing, graphic design, web development, UI/UX design, cybersecurity, and forex trading. "Our vision is to create a technologically advanced and economically viable Abia Central," Senator Akobundu emphasized. "We are laying the groundwork today for a future where our youths lead in innovation, entrepreneurship, and development."
Senator Akobundu concluded his speech by encouraging the graduates to carry the spirit of innovation and the passion for knowledge they have demonstrated during the training. "You are the future of Abia Central," he said. "With the skills you've learned, you have the power to transform our community, contribute to our economy, and inspire others. I am committed to your success and will continue to support initiatives that create more opportunities for our youth to learn, grow, and excel."
He assured the graduates, their parents and other attendees, that he remains dedicated to listening to the needs of the community and working tirelessly to create more pathways for progress. "Together, we can make Abia Central a beacon of innovation, education, and opportunity," the Senator concluded.
As part of the celebration, Senator Akobundu Foundation distributed customized school bags to each graduate. These school bags not only serve as a practical gift as students prepare to return to their various schools after the holidays, but also as a symbol of the academic and practical support the Senator is committed to providing. The gesture helps alleviate the financial burden on parents, particularly those who may have been considering purchasing new school supplies for their children.
In addition to the school bags, each graduate received a certificate of completion. These certificates are more than just paper; they are a testament to the hard work, dedication, and new skills that each student has acquired. They symbolize a promise kept: that every child in Abia Central who seeks to learn and grow will be supported and empowered.
